Week of the Young Child 2012: April 23 – 28
The 2012 Week of the Young Child™ saw so many wonderful celebrations of young children and their families. Many people helped bring attention and awareness to the importance of the needs of young children and to Peninsula Family Service’s early education programs that help serve those needs. The week of April 23rd began with an Open House for all the community to come meet our teachers and see our programs in action. The week continued with a surprise visit from South San Francisco Mayor Richard Garbarino, who read to the children at Leo J. Ryan; a parade of all the Early Learning Center students playing their handmade musical instruments in their very own marching band; a lively musical show by Sandi and Stevie that taught preschool children all about sea life and how to care for our oceans; and the grand finale – a Mini-Olympic event sponsored and organized by the Hillsborough Auxiliary. Children sang the National Anthem at Opening Ceremonies, participated in specially tailored events and relays, and enjoyed Closing Ceremonies with medals being presented to all!
Check out some great photos from the week!
