The Ways to Work Vehicle Loan Program

The Ways to Work Vehicle Loan Program provides low-interest car loans and education to parents who can’t get access to conventional credit. This program helps give you the tools for financial success and can help you overcome critical situations that may affect your family stability.

Participants find that a car improves their family’s quality of life. They are no longer solely dependent on public transportation for commuting to work, dropping a child off at daycare, or running errands. Besides stabilizing or improving your employment situation, the program can provide you with education to start building a stable financial future and help improve your overall credit history.

Our Programs Work

  • A reliable vehicle helps reduce transportation time
  • On time loan payments improve your credit score and overall credit history

Loan requests are granted to hardworking parents with challenging credit histories who face transportation barriers which may interfere with their ability to maintain self-sufficiency. Loan amounts are up to $8,000 and up to 36 months, with a low interest rate of 8% for the purchase of a pre-owned, reliable vehicle. Eligibility requirements (at this time) are as follows:

  • Live or work in San Mateo or Santa Clara County
  • Continuous employment for at least 3 months
  • Involved parent(s) of dependent child(ren)
  • Annual household income up to $71,000 (for a family of 3)
  • Have disposable income sufficient to repay the loan
  • Valid driver’s license
