Senior social isolation increases the risk of mortality; it affects the mental and physical well-being and leads to risky health behaviors. As we prepare for a growing population of older adults, Peninsula Family Service in partnership with the Sequoia Healthcare District, look to strengthen the connections between seniors and services in San Mateo County.

Are you 70 or older, or do you know someone 70 or older living in Atherton, Belmont, Portola Valley, Redwood City, Redwood Shores, San Carlos, Woodside, Foster City, Menlo Park or San Mateo? If so, you have probaby heard about 70 Strong.

The 70 Strong initiative is comprised of a free directory website, phone line and network of social workers who can refer you or the older adult that you care for to 300 partners that provide local resources.

The 70 Strong directory is your personal resource guide to services and activities for older adults and seniors in our area. Whether you’re looking for yourself or for someone you care about (a family member, a neighbor, a client), this directory helps you find just what you need.

The website comprises three categories: Health and wellness; fitness and community engagement, and aging in place. Each of these categories provides information on where to find community health clinics, hospice care, adult activity centers, LGBTQ assistance, housing options, among other frequently required services.

  1. I’m definitely familiar with 70 strong – and can’t praise them enough for the easy access to resources for taking care of my aging mother. Keep doing what you do!
